Is this for you?

This might not suit you if:

  • You're expecting a quick fix

  • You just want someone to agree with you

  • You're not open to exploring potential areas beyond the presenting issue

  • You are reluctant to change things.

This is for you if:

  • You are committed to the process (usually a minimum of 6 sessions).

  • Open to exploration of (sometimes unexpected) issues.

  • Commitment to work beyond the sessions

  • You are ready to embrace growth and change.

STILL NOT SURE?

Frequently Asked Questions

I understand that this is a big commitment - both financially and emotionally

Question 1: How do I know if I actually need therapy?

The truth is most people wait too long. If there's something affecting your day to day life - your relationships, mood, ability to function, that's enough. You don't need to be in crisis to benefit.

Question 2: What actually happens in a session?

The unknown can be scary. The truth is - you will not be analysed in silence for an hour, it's a conversation. I will meet you where you are with whatever you bring and go at a pace that feels manageable.

Question 3: How many sessions will I/we need?

There's not a one size fits all and I think if you're told there is - they're guessing. It really depends on what you're bringing, what you want to get out of it and how much happens outside of the sessions. The sessions are a small snap shot of your life. Much of the work continues to happen when you leave the space. You should expect at least 6-8 sessions, but some clients choose longer term work.

Question 3: How often do you attend?

This is a very personal decision. I recommend weekly sessions in the first instance to form a relationship and momentum, but personal circumstances often dictate this.

Question 4: Will it actually work?

The work we do is very dependent on the fit between you and I. This is why an initial session is mandatory before moving on to regular sessions. This gives us both some time to decide that this works. With all of the theory and tools in the world - I believe the most important part is the relationship we forge.
